Visiting Novi Sad

I wonder if there is anyone in the world who does not like to travel. Such person does not exist, right? And when it comes to travel to a wonderful city that you have always wanted, then happiness has no end.

Novi Sad, what a great city! There is so much to see in this place on the banks of the Danube River. I enjoyed especially in the old quarter, Stari Grad, cause I´m a big fan of old buildings and history.

Novi Sad is also known for the greatest summer music festival EXIT. It is held annually at the Petrovaradin Fortress. We visited the Fortress but without festival. Maybe some other time. The Petrovaradin Fortress is so wonderful and there is plenty to see. It had been built between 1659 and 1780. I especially liked the Clock tower. The wiew from the Fortress is indescribable. You can see the whole city. It was rainy day so the photos are a little gloomy.

I have to say that Novi Sad is great to visit with someone you love. There are many romantic places there. In fact, the whole city is in some kind of romantic mood.

Novi Sad is a city with a tradition more than 300 years long. The architecture of the city has some elements of Baroque, as well as the other styles. You can see many interesting and fascinating buildings such as City Hall, Bishop´s Palace, synagogue and a lot of churches.

I was especially glad to visit this city because it is the birthplace one of my favourite musician, singer and song writer Đorđe Balašević. He described many parts of Novi Sad in his songs. One of my favourite songsis "Ne volim januar´, in which he mentions the street Dositejeva. So I had to visit this street. At that point, no one was happier than me.

There are more beautiful things to see there. And the modern part of the city is beautiful, of course. But what fascinates me always is traditional and old, everything with the soul.

Many wonderful memories remained from Novi Sad. But it seems to me that the weekend was not enough. As well as this brief post. Therefore, if you had an opportunity be sure to visit this great city.

W.I.P. -Summer Morning Shawl

My new crochet WIP is Summer Morning Shawl. I saw it first on Pinterest. You can find free pattern on www.allfreecrochet.com, it is from Bernat. The light and lacy crochet pattern is perfect for summer nights or autumn afternoons.

It is not very difficult to follow, and after several rows it is four rows repeat. I am using 4,5 mm hook and yarn with 75% polyacril and 25% wool (Gold yarns made in Turkey).

I can´t wait to wrap myself in it.

I can not help but put some pictures of flowers from my garden and my neighborhood. I´m addicted to taking photos of nature.

Adorable weekend on the mountain!

I can not stop to photograph nature these days. Spring shows all its beauty these days. Everything is so wonderful, especially plants, blue sky and green grass. One simply can not admire enough.

This weekend I spent with my friends on the mountain Ponijeri near Kakanj. The weather was excellent, sunny but not too hot.
The best way for me to use your time in nature is hiking. We climbed to the top of the ski trail, which offers a superb view. We took a lot of great photos.
Throughout my life have I seen so many flowers. Rivers of crocus.

Garden update

Spring has just arrived, but I've finished most of the work in the garden. All my favorite types of vegetables are planted. This year, I decided to plant potatoes, red onions, garlic, carrots, radishes, beets, peas and zucchini. For now.

I planted patatoes about a week ago. This year I bought the seeds in local agricultural fharmacy. These are DESIREE patatoe seeds. It is very adaptive variety with a red skin colour but it is light yellow inside. Tubers are oval, long and resistant to drought. It is suitable for cooking, baking and french fries. This is a late variety. I also planted somekind of early patatoe, but I am not pretty sure about the name.

I can not wait to show the first shoots of my vegetables. Until then, we can only look at pictures of seeds.

In fact, some veggies have already sprung up. But only what I have planted in the greenhouse. So, my zucchini are almost ready for transplant into garden. I am so happy about this. Two types of zucchini have sprung so far. But I have planted some more outside in the garden.

Next to the seedlings, there is lettuce, onions, spinach and parsley in greenhouse. But it will soon be time to plant tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.

Do You Love Autumn Hikes? Yes!

I have to be honest this is not my favorite season. But I like its colors and I enjoy autumn walks. I've never seen such a beautiful mist as of this day. It really was a great time for hiking.

We started our tour early in the morning, at 6 am. We arrived by train to the station Gora, and than we spent 10 hours walking and enjoying in nature. Our goal was to reach the top of Mount Hum, at 1280 m. The view was incredible. We saw so many interesting things, flowers, some cool looking mushrooms, spider´s web.....

Here are some random photos.

Hello Autumn

Hello Autumn!! Hello hats, scarves, gloves!! Welcome!

I must admit that I made a summer break in knitting. But now I continue with lots of ideas. This hat has long been on my knitting wish list. The pattern is from DROPS Design, it is Ice Age hat.

The pattern consists of many braids and cables. I love this kind of hats. The original pattern does not include a rib, but I think it looks better with it. That's why I added k1, p1 rib. I also added a pom pom. So it seems a lot warmer and cozy.

My knitting wish list is very long. Therefore I expect a lot of fun with my knitting needles. I am  already working on my next project.

Have You Tried To Knit Simple Slouchy Beanie

I did not want to use any certain pattern. I actually wanted to use Brioche Stitch to practise it. I used Brioche Stitch in the round.

So, I casted on 135 stitches and joined them in the round. Then I worked k1, p1 rib for 1,5 inch.
After that I started to work Brioche Stitch. I found many different ways of knitting Brioche online. But the closest way that I used you could see here
I have worked in Brioche for 5 inches (total 6,5 inches). I found decreasing in Brioche a little tricky so I continued to work k1, p1 for 1,5 inch more. I think it is a really good tip for decreasing stitches when doing Brioche.

All that remains is decreasing:
- rnd1: *k1, slip 2 as if you were to k2tog, k1, lift that 2 slipped sts over the knitted and off the needle*, repeat from*to*
- rnd2:*k2tog all the round.
Cut yarn, leaving 6-10 inch tail and draw it trough remainig stitches, closing the top tightly. Weave in ends using tapestry needle. I also made a pom pom and attached it on the beanie.

Really simple but looks so great and cosily.

I think Brioche is also great for scarves and I'd love to hear your experiences. And what kind of hat do you prefer?
